Mr Riff
is something of an icon down at The Shore
where he has appeared at every Festival
on the Acoustic Stage - except for the first one.
In 2003 he hosted the 5th Anniversary party of the Festival at the Shore
and as always a good time was had by all.
His repertoire is entirely original and is perhaps best described as good-time
boogie.
Whilst some of his songs are hilarious Mr Riff takes his music very seriously
and loves performing in front of a crowd.
Mr Riff was back.
His new CD was on sale on the Paul Chambers CD stand and his top hat was
in place, guitar plugged in and he was ready to stalk the stage and scare
the daylights out of small children or "lunch" as he
tends to think of them.
Mr Riff has style, a very winning way and the instincts of a showman.
His CD outsold everyone else's this weekend. Nice one baz…
Mr Riff was waiting in the wings on this unusually
warm May night
and duly came on to entertain in his familiar top hat and long coat.
But they didn't last long as for the first time that I can remember the
warm night air was enough for Mr Riff to discard
both hat and coat and fleetingly we thought that he might discard all
but guitar and boots.
With some relief I can tell you that Riffy kept his kit on although
there was just a moment there...
Always good value, Mr Riff delivers unfailingly!.
Two solo players
and then Mr Riff made it three in a row - what was happening?
Well Wheatbread Johnson’s
no-show forced this upon us but in fact we weren't too bothered as it
turned out great. Riffy had the job on and he worked harder than ever;
with an absolutely packed Blues Marquee down at The Shore 2004.
He was out amongst the audience, standing on the tables etc. .
