Impromptu
Boogie
"Extra set for the road sir?"
Friday 4th May.
After missing 2006, Mr Riff was asked to come down and have
a boogie at the Shore Hotel marquee, Well, be rude not to really.
The slot was at 7.30pm, so second or third on. I was expecting to find
only a few in, but lo the place was bouncing. The timing for the slots
was as expected "flexible" so as the 30 minute set stretched
to nearly 50 min's, a chance was had to air a couple of newer tunes.
Little Groover and Wanted Man from the new album went down well. I think
more than a few people were surprised that one bloke with an acoustic
guitar could make such a full sounding racket.
That should have been it for friday, but at the last minute
I was asked to play an extra set at the Queens Hotel marquee. The timings
here were running late, so instead of 10pm it was nearly 11pm by the time
I went on. It did have the upside of meaning I was the last artiste on.
Headlining the evening! "I'll take it anyway I can get it, LoL"
This slot was being streamed to the internet.
I've had a lot of feedback from people telling me it sounded good, and
that I have a perfect face for radio!!.
The guys filming it have told me they will keep a copy of it, so I'll
see about getting it up here at some point.
Saturday 5th May
The Shore Marquee was buzzing by the time the hat was donned
and the boogie gotten' down to. The sound was good, the crowd were good,
what more could you want.
Due to a band pulling out the slot got extended to nearly an hour, then
after I'd finished
I was asked if I could fill in and do another set later on.
I have to admit to being a little reluctant at first. After having a great
set and wonderful reaction it might of resulted in "what him again"
but I thought what the hell, have a go.
It went even better than the first set.
There must have been something in the water, barley and hops i think!!
All in all a great festival. Everyone had a blast and
hopefully it raised another big pot of money for charity.
