Ouch!!
Well, as gigs go this one was right up there with the
most surreal of them.
I'd been asked to do a set at a charity concert in Laxey, so why not,
thinks I.
Everything was geared up to go for a full show as per, and then on the
morning before
I managed to fall off a set of steps ( stop giggling )
In my previous occupation as a roofer one of the perks
of the job was I got to fall off roofs.
I have in my time bounced from heights that have had three numbers in
them, so to have a set of steps
three feet off the ground spring out from underneath me wasn't going to
have me worrying too much.
Unfortunately as I fell off them they managed to get themselves tangled
under me.
The result was I landed right across the leg of the steps on my ribs.
After a trip to A and E ( I felt such a big girls
blouse ) I was informed that nothing was broken,
but a couple of my ribs may be cracked and my chest was well bruised.
Lol, it is so embarrassing to be walking around grimacing in pain
with people looking at you like they can see the bullet holes,
only to have to let them down and say it was a just a fall.

Canceling the gig was not on the cards, but it was certainly
now not going to be the full show.
So after getting as comfortable as possible ( val doonigan eat your
heart out ) on a chair
I ran through as many of the tunes as I could.
Playing the tunes didn't prove to be that hard, which
surprised me because it usually is,
It was singing them that was difficult. Each deep breath felt like a sharp
knife being stuck in my side.
What a trooper eh!! He,he.
The gig as a whole seemed a success, I don't know how
much was raised for the charity, but I hope they did well.
Unfortunately I had to deal with a more pressing and hellish
problem when I'd finished and got home.
I got hiccups!!
